    First Satellite Image In a remote area in northwestern China, rectangular patches made up of zig-zagging stripes can be seen from space. The patches are almost 2000 meters long, and 1000 meters wide. My best guess regarding what they are, is that they are optical targets from satellites used to calibrate orbiting surveillance instruments. The Chinese are trying to analyze and learn how to detect and identify non-natural (man-made) surface phenomenon from space.

    The coordinates of the top patch are:
    40.452107,93.742118

    Second Satellite Image They can be seen in Google Earth or Google Maps, don't try to view them in MapQuest, they don't subscribe to that map set.

    The lower patch is at:
    North 40 degrees, 27 minutes, 26.82 seconds, and,
    East 93 degrees, 23 minutes, 34.08 seconds

    Pardon me for mixing decimal degrees with the traditional degrees, minutes, and seconds. Click on the pictures to see a larger image of the embedded picture.

    Navy Seals Patch Apparently the mission to capture bin Laden, characterized as a 'kill mission' by the White House, is legally not allowed to be a 'kill mission',... oh that's right, international law, forget about that.

    Contrary to information releases by the administration, there was no lengthy gun fight, bin Laden was killed within 90 seconds of the Navy Seals entering the room he was in. To top it off, the Seals confirm they would have taken him alive, had he surrendered. The crux of what really happened from a misinformation point of view is,.. the administration (like all administrations) can't wait to take credit for something they have no clue about. There were cameras mounted on the Seals' helmets, which recorded the fast-paced mission. The cadre of civillians had no idea what what was transpiring during the event. Personally, I doubt I could have made sense of it, but at least I'm not a 'poser".

    I don't appreciate that a retiring Navy Seal wrote a tell-all' book, since I would have thought they should have to honor some secrecy policy around the mission. Howevever, that's where this information comes from.
